“There are three types of leaders: Those who make
things happen;
those that watch things happen; and those who wonder what happened!”

To me, leadership is the ability to motivate others into action. Effective leadership is reflected not only in the performance of how well a leader can motivate and inspire others to achieve one single vision, but also is measured by the successful outcome of that performance. As a leader, your focus is on accomplishing that leadership vision, regardless of the forum. You can be a leader in your community, in business, in politics or in your family. Every environment shares a set of basic principles, traits, and skills that work in harmony with your personal values and belief structures to achieve success as a leader.
You can become a leader and influence others in business, in your community or personally, as long as you have a passion for what you believe in. In the history of mankind, there has never been an effective, passive leader. To become a leader you must first desire to become a leader. You have to constantly challenge yourself, your surroundings, your environment, and challenge others to act. As you face these challenges, you must be able to lead, overcome opposition, make sound decisions, and meet resistance that comes whenever there is change. There really is no such thing as a “natural born leader,” though there are certain traits that are elemental to being a leader. Leadership is an art and a science that can be learned. If you have the desire, you can apply the basic principles, traits, and skills it takes to become a leader.
